First Paddle was a Blast!
On July 6, ALPA hosted several children for a morning of pickleball fun. We had several beginners; others were returnees and worked on skill development. The kids were divided into three different age groups with at least three adult instructors per group. They learned fast! Afterwards, we went to Outlaw for lunch. All in all, a wonderful morning! A special thanks goes to Dottie MacVeigh and her family for running the show.
ALPA Competitive Events
For those who enjoy a bit more competition, we have special events. ALPA had Ladder Play on July 23 with two different skill groups.
August 12 & 19
Round Robin Play and Fundraiser with our Ruidoso sister club. Sixteen members from each club can sign up for the 12th, another sixteen for the 19th. ALPA members may register, first come, first serve, with Stephen Morris. Donations of cash and non-perishable food will be accepted for the Lincoln County Foodbank.
Pickleball is Taking the Country and Alto by Storm!
Over the past seven years, the number of players in the U.S. has doubled. We see evidence of that with our growing ALPA membership!
Why the popularity? Because it is a sport that is easy to learn, it is inexpensive, it is social, and it is addictive. So, what’s keeping you from taking the plunge? Contact the Alto office; they’ll get you signed up, and ALPA will get you on the courts!
