Greetings:
Well, another season and year in the books at Alto! As Winter sets in, there has been sporadic opportunity for decent golf days as weather permits. We still encounter our beautiful wildlife which are a challenge to the courses this time of year. Glenn and his crew do the best they can to manage this and provide the best conditions that they can this time of year. As always, we hope for moisture throughout the Winter to enable our courses to be poised for a great opening season in 2024!
COURSE CLOSURES:
We would like to reiterate the days of closure for each course. During the Winter Season, each golf course is closed for two days. This is important for maintenance practices, wildlife cleanup, and winter rest for the turf conditions. We ask that you please abide by these guidelines by playing only on the courses during the times they are open. THIS ALSO GOES FOR WALKING OR BEING IN YOUR OWN PRIVATE CART.
ALTO & KOKOPELLI: CLOSED MONDAYS/TUESDAYS
OUTLAW: CLOSED WEDNESDAYS/THURSDAYS
DRESS CODE:
As a club, we need to follow the dress code. In our observation, much of this has not been abided by as of late. One thing we have noticed is “workout” clothing, namely sweatpants, have been worn by members while playing golf. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. This also goes for the use of the driving ranges as well as the chipping greens; no exceptions. If we are not following our club dress code, it presents “bad optics” for who we are as a private club. The paragraph below is copied and pasted from the club website which states the dress code with more details. We appreciate you following these rules as one.
Dress Code
Collared shirts (mock necks must be 1 inch or longer), and mid-thigh or longer shorts are required for both men and women. Golf pants/slacks are acceptable. "Workout" type clothing, bike shorts, short shorts, or other street clothes are not permitted; Blue jeans are acceptable. Any further questions regarding attire can be answered by the Golf Shop staff at either golf course.
KIRK TAYLOR UPDATE:
Kirk is doing well and has even made a few appearances around the club. He is currently getting ready to start a rigorous rehabilitation program for his condition, starting this month. All reports on his progress have been positive and we look forward to having him back as soon as time permits.
WELCOME PATRICK ESPALIN:
I would like to welcome Patrick Espalin to Alto as the new Head Golf Professional. Patrick is a graduate from the New Mexico State PGM Program and is excited to be at Alto Lakes; We are blessed to have him! Some of you know Patrick from his 3 Summer internships that he served here at Alto. Patrick, his wife Jaime, and their two children come to Alto from Las Cruces. We wish Patrick the best going forward at Alto. Stop by and say hello to Patrick!
TOURNAMENT CALENDAR:
The tournament calendar is now complete. You can also find this on the club website, which will have more details and access to Golf Genius. Please bear in mind, as early as it is, there may not be full details on all of the events yet. Keep checking the website and tournament portal as the Winter evolves.
HOLE-IN-ONE REPORT:
We have just one hole-in-one to report for December. On December 5th, Joe McCubbin aced the 16th hole at Outlaw. He hit a gap wedge from the white tees and was witnessed by Bob McWilliams, David Neal, and Curtis Beale. His new hole in one total is now two. Great shot, Joe!
Are you in the Hole-in-One club? If you are interested, please see the form on the Club website to download, fill out, and submit. The program costs $5 per person and reloads each time a Hole-in-One participant makes a hole-in-one. Each Golf Shop has a simple form to fill out should you have one. Inquire at either Golf Shop for the form.
