Well, it’s been pretty nice to have been enjoying this great Fall weather! Winter really hasn’t reared its ugly head yet with the exception of a few minor frost delays. We’ve been blessed to be able to enjoy these days on the golf course so far. A few windy days here and there but really nothing to prevent a nice day of golf. The grass is slowly changing color as hibernation is near. That being said, I’d like to emphasize the importance of turf wear. Please be cognitive of following the 90-degree rule as much as possible to prevent stressing turf during the low growth season. Our neighborly wildlife give us enough to manage in that area as it is.
I’d like to touch base on some proceedings of the newly formed handicap committee. As you know, this committee of Men and Women was recently formed to address some of the handicapping procedural issues that need attention. First of all, we had no committee so that’s a start in itself! After sitting in on this committee, there was no doubt that as a club we need to be more compliant collectively. Some of the issues we have noticed are a lack of posting scores as much as one play or at all. Every member that plays in a club or association event must have a GHIN number which is provided and sanctioned by the USGA. The purpose of a GHIN number is to identify the ability of a golfer by way of a number (the lower the number the better the player). After running several reports from ForeTees, we’ve noticed that are many of those rounds of golf that have not been posted. We understand not all rounds can be posted in GHIN as you may be playing a format that doesn’t permit during that given round.
There just seems to be a large number of rounds of golf that are not being posted. It’s my duty to encourage all players at the club to please record and post your scores that permit. This helps give every player an accurate identity in the world of golf and provide a fair playing field for all competitions. DID YOU KNOW? You can post 9-hole scores in GHIN as well. If you have to leave after 9 holes, post it! FYI: an acceptable score for posting is a minimum of 7 holes (for playing 9) or 14 holes (or 18). I hope this information is helpful and once again; please post all permitting scores.
On another note, we will be transitioning to a new registration portal for club golf events. For the 2022 season, all golf event registration with now be on Golf Genius instead of ForeTees. Since we are currently using Golf Genius for tournament software it makes more sense to use it for registration as well. This will create an SSO(single sign on) integration feature. The tournament portal will now be a one stop shop as you will be able to register and see the all the events available for registration as well as results. When we get this all built and integrated, it will all be available on the Golf Genius app. More correlation and instruction on this will follow in the coming months so stay tuned…… BEAR IN MIND: This is for tournament registration only. Normal tee time booking will remain on ForeTees.
We are excited to start the remodel of both pro shops starting early January. This is a big undertaking but also much needed. Alto has a much bigger scope of work than Outlaw. You will definitely see a beautiful new look to both, but Alto will take a little longer to complete as there are 4 different trades required with sequential timing. So, starting in January, we will become a bit of a construction zone; mostly in the back where they will be removing/creating a few walls.
Once we get into the second half of January, we’ll have to start clearing out everything to prepare for flooring and Procraft to come in and complete the job right around February 1st. New merchandise will be flowing in thereafter. We’re excited to make this change and provide a wonderful retail experience for our membership!
TIS THE SEASON: The Holiday season is upon us, and we’d like to remind you to check us out for your holiday shopping. Of course, all regular priced merchandise is 20% off for all members. In addition, we will of course be having our annual Holiday sale in both golf shops on December 4th, 5th, and 6th. An email blast with more details will have gone out before you read this. As you know, we are still at the mercy of low labored companies, barges in the ocean, and lack of trucking. That being said, we are waiting on a few shipments that I am hoping will be here before the above mentioned: I’m praying. Let’s make the best of it together. Please come see us and knock out some shopping while enjoying some great deals!
CREDIT BOOKS: Going forward, all credit books will need to be cleared out at the end of even years; So if you have credit on the books for 2021 and want to roll it over, you certainly can!
REMINDER: ALGCC will no longer tender cash for payment in either pro shop. Personal or company checks will still be accepted if you choose. Please take note and let your guests know as well.
HOLE IN ONE REPORT: As we have less members playing this time of year naturally there are less holes in one. However, for some different excitement we had an albatross on #18 Late last month. Richard McCormack made a two from 180 yards out with a 4 hybrid; What a way to end a round! It was witnessed by Mr. Foster, Mr. Adkins, and Mr. Neidert. Great shot Richard!
Are you in the hole in one club? If you are interested please contact Charisse Wadsworth at [email protected]. The program costs $5 per person and reloads each time a hole in one participant makes a hole in one. Each golf shop has a simple form to fill out should you have one. Inquire at either golf shop for the form.
Upcoming for December:
4th ,5th,6th Holiday shops sale

So until 2022. God bless to all….Have a wonderful and safe Holiday season. We’re glad you’re here!
