Happy Fall, Everyone!
I hope this finds you all doing well and enjoying the beauty of the Fall colors and cooler weather.
So far, the weather has cooperated with our AL9GA schedule for playing Oct golf, unlike the years before when we had to cancel due to weather and wind. (Except for Oct 30th – too cold to play.)
October was a fun month with our Halloween Play Day on Oct 2nd and our ALTRUSA Pink Day on Oct 9th.
We had lots of fun creative costumes. The costumes winners were Jane Hoover as a Flapper and Bette Hanson as Flo the insurance lady. What a fun day of quirky golf! Thank you to Dianna Gibson for her great job organizing this fun day. We putted with a witch’s broom; if we hit the sand trap we got a birdie, and if we hit the tree on hole 6, we got to go straight to the green. Congratulations to Lisa Decker for getting closest to the pin on Hole 7. The 1st place scramble team winners were Dianna Gibson, Jane Hoover, June Merrick, and Melissa Kriegel with a 27. The 2nd place team winners were Deb Harris, Lindal Sanders, Lois Vicars, and Susie Patterson with a 28. Thank you to all who helped Dianna Gibson paint the pumpkins that were given out as prizes. Great job, ladies! After our play we had lunch at the club – delicious tortilla soup and salad.
ALTRUSA Pink Day was a huge success. The AL9GA donated $1590. Just pat yourselves on the back for your generosity. You guys rocked it! We had loads of pink going on that day. Thank you all for your participation. We had 43 ladies play a scramble at KoKopeli and had a blast. 1st Place Team – Deb Wight, Sylvia Ware, Patsy Walters, and Susan Holmes with a 31. 2nd Place Team – Deb Harris, Lindal Sanders and Donna Taylor with a 32. All the pink decorated golf carts were winners.
For your calendar – save the date if you are in Alto on Dec 9th for a Christmas Party with the 18-holers. I believe it will be a toy drive. Stay tuned for more information on that.
Now for a little bit of business – your AL9GA board is still working with the club on our playday schedule for next year. It seems that when we think we have a plan, the plan has to be re-thought out. They are reconsidering us playing on Mondays but are still not sure. So, hang in there and we will let you know as soon as we know.
For now, sit back and enjoy God’s beauty in this season. Here is a thought for the day:
Be present in the moment you are in – your mind, your body, and your heart - focus on that moment – you are there for a reason – find out what it is and why.
Miss you all,
Cindy Delay
