AL9GA had a fabulous October. It started out with our annual Breast Cancer Awareness play day on Oct 3rd. The ALTRUSA Foundation came by to give a talk about how our donations impact low-cost mammograms, adult literacy, school age projects, safe living support for women, health initiatives, bringing cancer treatment back in the Lincoln County hospital, and many more issues. Our 9 holders dressed in pink, decorated their golf carts, and donated over $1000 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. YOU GUYS ROCK! Congratulations to our very own MJ Thomas, who is also on the ALTRUSA board, for winning the best-decorated golf cart. Our golf play day was a 4-lady scramble. Congratulations to team winners:
1st Place Team: Brittany Allen, Debb Fleming, Bette Hanson
2nd Place Team: Deb Harris, Leslie Wall, Floy Ana Lane, Carla Gotcher
On Oct 10th, we had our quirky Halloween Golf Play Day. Our ladies dressed up in costume; it was quite challenging to play golf in some of those outfits! Congratulations to costume winners - 1st place: Dedra Mergele as Mother Nature, and 2nd: place Brittany Allen as Birdie Juice. Our golf game was a scramble, with fun games like “hit the tree go straight to the green,” “land in sand get a birdie,” “putt with witches broom and putt with your wedge.” Thank you to Dianna Gibson for all her hard work and planning. We had a pumpkin decorating meeting the Saturday before the game - the pumpkins were the prizes. 1st place team winners were Brittany Allen, Deb Wright, Sylvia Ware, and Gracie Rheingans. 2nd place winners were Dianna Gibson, Jo Carole Mayo, Cindy Delay, and Susan Allen.
Our Oct 17th and 24th play days were both canceled due to weather concerns.
So that’s a wrap for the 2022 AL9GA golf season. It was a fun year, and we look forward to 2023. The board will continue monthly meetings and will keep you posted through the Avalanche. If you have any questions, you can always contact one of the AL9GA board members.
Have fun and play lots of golf!
