Summer is finally here and already the tee sheets are getting full. The courses are green, the restaurants are full, and people are enjoying all the amenities of our beautiful country club. The AMGA Playdays have been a big success, averaging over 50 players per outing. I hope we see even more numbers as more people arrive for the summer. On May 4th, we had stroke play, flighted at Alto. The Flight winners in Gross were Tom Fox, Phillip Vice, Neil Goodman, and Charlie Barron. In Net, the winners were Matt Thompson, Doug Jones, Bill Lucy, and Joe Citarella. On May 17th, we played a Net Stableford game and the team of Bob McWilliams, Herb Goerner, Fred Ortiz, and Robert McInroy were the winners. On May 24th, we used the ABCD best two of four balls with the team of Bruce Ripko, Neil Goodman, Robert Ragsdale, and Ben Stanford winning. These have been great fun, and with the weather getting warmer, will continue to be even more fun. Currently, Charlie Barron is leading the Alto Cup.
Snowcapper registration was on May 24th this year. For the first time we used online registration, and the tournament was full in 15 minutes. There are several teams on the wait list, but I encourage anyone who wants to play to please put your name on the waiting list; you never know how many people may drop out before the tournament. I hope everyone is getting all the email communications that we are sending out trying to keep all our members as informed as possible.
Our first tournament, Match Play, is scheduled for June 6th and 7th at Alto Lakes. Please sign up for this tournament if you want to play. After play on the 7th, we will have the AMGA Annual Meeting in the Pavilion. Even if you are not playing in Match Play, please make plans to attend the meeting; we should start around 1:00 pm. We will be providing lunch for all the members who attend.
Anyone interested in being on the AMGA Board of Directors should contact any current Board Member for consideration. We are extremely busy planning all our tournaments that happen in just a four-month window. Even if you don’t want to be on the Board but wish to help, please contact one of us. I hope to see as many people as possible this summer and hope this golfing season is extremely enjoyable for everyone.
