Happy December and early Christmas members!!! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
I applaud all of the people who have cleaned up their properties, or started the process. This will only
help protect all of our investments and also, in my opinion improve values and aesthetics of the
entire subdivision.
Please remember that ALPOA is going to have Mary Lavin from the US Forest Service at their meeting
on December 7. She will have very good information to show how all of us can make our own
properties as well as the entire subdivision, recognized as being fire safe and have what the Forest
Service calls a Firewise Designation. This will reduce everyones insurance cost and make our entire
community much safer.
Our club is prepared to support the Firewise Initiative by staying in contact with the Forest Service
and passing on any information about cost sharing programs that are available for our area and also
identifying and notifying owners of properties that are at risk and putting their neighbors at risk by not
having them brought into compliance with the Firewise standard.
In the future our club hopes to be able to have money available to help with this process.
We have already started accumulating money from the increased transfer, or initiation fees for non
members. We will be able to use some of that money towards this and coupled with individual participation
and some occasional co-op money we should be able to really make a noticeable difference
in the near future!
I would encourage everyone to continue to be pro active and work on your own property! This will be
an ongoing process that will continue forever.
Thank You again for helping us all to be fire safe!!!
Sincerely
Scott Miller
