Our featured brand this month is SanSoleil. This innovative company started small, developing a simple long-sleeved, sun-blocking polo shirt for female golf, tennis, and fitness aficionados. They chose to utilize UPF 50 material; UPF stands for “ultraviolet protection factor,” and provides a sun-protective rating measure for fabrics. If you are using a UPF 50 fabric, this means that only up to 1/50th, or 2% of ultraviolet radiation, can infiltrate that fabric. Translated from French, the term “san soleil” literally means “without sun.”
SanSoleil found immediate success with their product, and continued on to design beautiful, wearable styles for not only women, but men, in the fields of golf, tennis, fitness, swim and water exercise, and equestrian sports. Their new fabric, SolTek, is specifically designed for not only blocking the sun’s harmful rays, but wicking and moisture control. They have also created a fabric specifically for swimmers, called AquaSol; it offers water-goers protection from the sun in chlorine, salt, and fresh water. The company’s focus is always toward looking ahead to the further development of attractive, functional, and protective sports clothing and accessories.
