We finally got hit with some snow which made January a tough month for golf. Aside from a few good days, we had some “partial” golf available where some holes were closed on both courses; sort of our cross-country golf way in the Winter. Although it took quite a while for melting with colder temperatures, the moisture set in was great for the turf! We’ll just have to wait and see what February will bring to us. As of today(January 21st) we have had no holes in one to report but I’m sure they are right around the corner.
I am excited to attend the 2022 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando(next week as I write this). It will be nice to attend the show and appointments live to where you can see the products and actually put a hand to them; very important for market buying; see, touch, feel! Although we seem to be living in a more prevalent Zoom world, it is not the ideal way to seek, learn, and purchase goods for a club. So, I look forward to finding lots of new and fresh goods for the club and your membership. That being said, the golf shop remodel is on schedule and going very well. Most of the contractor/electrician work is complete. We had a one week set back with Procraft due a few Covid cases; they are now set to deliver on February 7th. That process should take 4-5 days; after that flooring with then be installed. So all things considered, not too many hiccups so far. We are hoping that all our deliveries are coming as scheduled. We look forward to you seeing it soon!
The tournament calendar is complete and submitted for BOD approval(1/25/22). Once approved, this will go out to the respective associations and certainly be published in The Avalanche. Again, it’s a pretty action-packed tournament schedule. We hope you can join and participate.
With the diligent work of The Handicap Committee and the blessing of The Golf and Greens Commission, we have re-allocated the handicaps on some of our holes on both courses. In addition to that, we are happy to unveil a new scorecard for our courses. I think you’ll see a cleaner, less redundant scorecard with all the pertinent information needed on there; and by the way, they’ll be room for a five-some and more bets, if you so choose! We hope you like it.
REMEMBER: The GHIN handicap fees have been billed accordingly. If you do not want a GHIN handicap fee we will need to know by no later than February 14th. After that, no refunds can be issued by the Sun Country Section whatsoever. If you have joined or plan to join The AL9GA, ALGA, or AMGA you are required to have a GHIN handicap through ALGCC.
