The snow continued in March and was fortunately good, wet snow! At the very least, we had more chances to get out and play both golf courses; spring is upon us. April now brings us longer days, better weather, more golf, and yes, tournament season! The first ALGA and AMGA play days start April 6th. See below for this month’s golf event details.
Our Golf Shop remodel is now complete as we are operating from our new digs! As you know, we still have a lot of finishing touches to do. The challenge with some of these finishes ties back to supply chain issues; we are waiting for things like base and window trim to match, doors, area rugs, and some artwork. We are also playing around with staging/merchandising and getting used to our new work environment. Supplies for apparel have been decent but we are still noticing some delays, which is affecting our season buy thus far. Acushnet (Footjoy and Titleist) is a name vendor that is struggling to deliver in timely fashion. Some are easy and some are not. We are working hard to make sure we will remain stocked for the entire season. What you can look forward to is some fresh, new lines in both shops right now; Peter Millar, Travis Mathew, Donald Ross, G4 and Puma shoes, Kinona, IBKUL, and San Soleil will be making their way into our merchandise. Many of your past favorites will also continue to be stocked as well. New product will be pouring in during the coming months. We are also using a new program through Golf Genius called Golf Shop. This program enables us to create all special orders electronically, and you will receive correlation via email/text on the order from start to finish. This program will also be used for checking out demo and rental clubs, with the same correlation capabilities. This new program is designed to enable us to communicate more effectively on these transactions. A few of you have already seen this new process with your recent orders.
On another note, golf carts are a sore subject. We will not be receiving our 2022 fleet carts until sometime in the first quarter of 2023. We would normally get these in May of 2022. Given the setback, we are replacing as many batteries as possible in our current fleet of 30 that we will need to operate with for this season. This current golf cart supply issue is forcing us to investigate utilizing lithium batteries for the future of our fleet carts.
TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION: As mentioned, we are now using Golf Genius for tournament registration. All associations have received an instruction letter with a link to use for event registration. The links are specific to each association (ALGA, AL9GA, AMGA, and COUPLES’ GOLF). The links are pretty self-explanatory. Once you click the link, you will be directed to the respective association portal. From there, the schedule of play days is on the left-hand side. The drop-down has the entire current rosters of the associations. If your name is not listed in the drop-down, it means that you are not currently a member of that particular association. If that is the case, visit the Golf Shop to join that association and we will get you on that roster.
PLEASE NOTE: All non-play days are listed under the tab “2022 Majors.” These are all other events that are not play days. Click the tab to see the list and you can sign up for those as well. If an event is not available for registration, it simply means that it is not open yet for sign-ups. Here are the respective links for tournament sign-up/registration.

As always, you can call the golf shop if you need any assistance with this new process. With the club’s investment in Golf Genius, the goal is to have everyone participate and complete everything online, which will streamline the whole process.
We are looking forward to our H2B staff arriving soon; they will be here early-mid May. More to come on this next month.
SHOUT OUT: A special shout out and congratulations to member Scott Roser for winning the SCAGA Senior Stroke Play Championship at Picacho Hills in Las Cruces 3/27-3/27. Scott fired 75-71 for a +2 146, edging out Crispin Fuentes of Las Cruces by a single shot. Great playing, Scott!
HOLE IN ONE REPORT: We had no holes-in-one to report.
Are you in the Hole-in-One club? If you are interested, please contact Charisse Wadsworth at [email protected]. Each Golf Shop also has a simple form to fill out should you have an Ace. Inquire at either Golf Shop for the form. If you have a hole-in-one, with your permission, we can take your picture for the website and social media.
