Dear Alto Members:
Below is a model of how to keep your home fire-safe!
Please get this process started on your property. It will protect you and your neighbors, and could possibly save lives in the event of a forest fire.
Even though we have been receiving some much-needed moisture, we still have experienced some hot dry days with wind in what is normally a very wet time of our year. It does look like we are getting back into a wet cycle again, but New Mexico in general is much dryer than usual this year, and has had less snow pack in the last couple of years than normal.
Again, the U.S. Forest Service number for our area is 575-354-2231. The co-op money for this year is over, but it is a good idea to call right after the first of the year to get on the list for next year. But what is even better, if you have the ability to do it now and not wait, go ahead and get started on your property. In relation to the value of your home here, the cost of cleaning it up is not very much.
Please help us all to be fire-safe!
Sincerely
Scott Miller
