Tournaments/Event Schedules

We hold our annual membership meeting in June, followed by a "French Open" themed mixer, a "Breakfast at Wimbledon" mixer in July, an Interclub mixer in August and close out the busy summer with a "US Open" mixer. We hosted a TRIATHLON event (tennis, pickleball and 8 holes of golf) in June and an introduction to tennis for kids (aged 6-12) in early July. Watch the Avalanche for exact dates. Themed snacks and drinks are furnished at each mixer and fun for all levels of players. Guests are always welcome at any of our play days or mixers with a $5 guest fee.

November 2023

It’s Thanksgiving!  What about tennis are you thankful for? Four Alto Lakes Tennis Association members paused play long enough to reply.

Melissa Kriegel: “I am so thankful for learning to play tennis at a young age. I have made many lifelong friends, one being our own Elaine Wedgeworth. We met about 25 years ago in Georgetown, TX, at Berry Creek Country Club. We were paired for doubles and formed a great partnership. If not for tennis, I wouldn’t have met her and would have missed a lasting friendship. I am also thankful for tennis at Alto Country Club because I have met so many nice ladies who will become lifelong friends, too. Everyone here in Alto is so welcoming– and puts up with my unconventional slice!

 It’s US Open time!

Last Monday (August 28)  opened this year’s fourth and final Grand Slam tournament, the venerable yet rambunctious, hotly contested and never predictable, US Open Tennis Championships, played in the Borough of Queens, New York, August 28, 2023 –  September 10, 2023.

August 2023

On a bright July day, eager tennis players, all clad in pristine white, competed in the season’s most prestigious event.

Smashing serves, relentless baseline drives, clever placements, spin returns, razor-sharp line calls, high lobs, shot-making volleys, intense net play, and come-from-behind wins – players gave it their all and then some.

Rule, Britannia, when King (Charles III)-sized fun dominates Alto Lakes Tennis Association’s
(ALTA’s) most popular event:
Breakfast at Wimbledon!

On Saturday, July 15, at 9 AM at the Outlaw Courts, ALTA celebrates the (ahem–proper name here!) All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club Championships during official play, July 3 - 16, 2023, in Wimbledon, a London, England suburb.

But first. . .
First Racquet returns, also on Monday, July 3, at 10 AM on the Outlaw Courts, with check-in at 9:45 AM. This popular program introduces your kids and grandkids to your favorite lifetime sport. Equipment, instruction, and fun provided. Check it out–and volunteer! Contact Belinda Campbell at 2becampbell@gmail.com for more information.
