Richard & Judy Vidmer, otherwise known as music duo “Dos Amigos,” were fated to meet. Both Richard and Judy were brought up with music in their childhood. Richard’s mother was a piano teacher, and he is self-taught on guitar. He also credits an Elvis impersonator, who helped with his education on guitar. Through high school, Judy sang harmony in a girl duet group. In 2008, in Ruidoso, Richard became involved in a duo with musician Mickey Cochran – they called themselves “Acoustic Wheel.” They began writing originals together, but this was cut short when Mickey Cochran suddenly passed. Richard was very inspired by his music time with Cochran, and attributes him with continuing his music career. Richard and Judy met at a construction job – they were both sitting on the porch and made a connection. They discovered they are musical together, and Richard bought Judy a djembe drum to add to their show. “Among the other talent she has, she’s an excellent percussionist,” Richard says. When you come hear Dos Amigos, be prepared for an eclectic musical journey – they play all genres, but their favorites are classic rock and classic country, with a little Alannah Miles and Peter Gabriel thrown in. Both Richard and Judy enjoy performing, and you’ll never hear the same thing twice!
