It was nice to see a lot of you at the annual member party!
I would like to reiterate a couple of things that I said in the meeting.
It takes everyone being proactive about keeping their property cleaned up for all owners to be safe. If you and a couple of your neighbors are taking care of your properties, but others, who are adjacent and close by aren’t, then they are putting you, your home, and your investment at risk.
Please take seriously thinning and keeping your property cleaned up.
At the meeting, I encouraged everyone to drive through the areas that were affected by the McBride fire. It is a sobering reminder of what can happen in a forest fire.
Thank God for the rain. We have been blessed to get early monsoon rains. In the Alto area, we have had 4 to 6 inches of rain in a little over a week.
I know that makes so many people feel like they don’t need to worry about their property, but lots of rain leads to lots of growth in the trees, grass, and shrubs, which become dry in the fall or winter.
The U.S. Forest Service number is 575-354-2231. They have co-op money available, typically every year. Call them if you have questions about whether you qualify or not.
If you do, they will come assess your property, mark it, and then re-inspect after you thin it; you could get reimbursed for a big portion of the cost of doing it.
Thanks again to all who have already, or are in process of, thinning your property.
Sincerely
Scott Miller
